Office support

The Commissioners are supported by a team of eight staff in planning competitions; in the collection and analysis of statistics from competitions; on audits of departments' compliance with our Recruitment Code; in dealing with the administration of appeals; and in the provision of briefing on various matters.

During 2006/07, the staff;

delivered 18 seminars in departments about our role;
contributed to four seminars for recently appointed civil servants arranged by the National School for Government;
distributed to two seminars organised by Westminster Explained;
discussed with departments a wide range of issues and queries relating to the implications of our recruitment principles in particular circumstances and their effective application.

Without their significant help and support, it would be impossible to handle our responsibilities effectively or efficiently.
