Throughout, the Commissioners will work with the Heads of the Home Civil Service and Diplomatic Service, Permanent Secretaries, Agency Heads and HR Directors on issues affecting the Civil Service generally and individual departments in particular.
They will communicate the Commissioners' role to other stakeholders, for example the Public Administration Select Committee, the Committee on Standards in Public Life, the House of Lords Constitution Committee, the University of London Constitution Unit, think tanks and opinion-formers, including the media.
The Commissioners will also contribute to the debate on an effective and impartial Civil Service, particularly where it affects the Commissioners' role as a regulator. This involves issues such as political impartiality, the involvement of Ministers in appointments, accountability, relevant recommendations from departmental capability reviews and, more generally, the modernisation programme for the Civil Service.
