Links with other governments

We value the opportunity to discuss issues of mutual concern with representatives of other governments. In many countries, there is a growing concern about public service ethics. We have found widespread international interest in our work as a model of good practice.

In June 2006, the First Commissioner, Janet Paraskeva, met Maria Barrados, President of the Public Service Commission of Canada. In November, the First Commissioner and our Office held a seminar under the auspices of Public Administration International for representatives of public service commissions in the Bahamas, Brunei Darussalam, Dominica, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, St Vincent and the Grenadines, South Africa, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Zambia.

During the year, our Office met Ahmed Al-Bahar, President of the Civil Service Bureau, Bahrain. It also discussed the Commissioners' role and related issues with representatives of the governments of Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, Kenya, Korea, Nigeria, Northern Cyprus, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania, Tajikistan and Vietnam.
